The world class French footballer Thierry Daniel Henry was born on 17th August, 1977 at Les Ulis, Essonne in France. The top goal scorer Henry is the captain of the National Team of France. The 6’2” Goal Scoring machine feared as ‘Henry’ also plays  a striker/winger for Football Club Barcelona.

Henry’s father Antoine realized him the importance of soccer and mother Marylese laid stress on his studies. Following instructions from both Henry became  an intelligent student as well as a magnificent soccer player.

Due to his exceptional football skills Thierry started playing in the junior teams of Les Ulis and Palaiseau early in life. The would be football sensation Thierry was discover by another Thierry by the name Thierry Pret, a scout of Viry-Chatillon club. Thierry Pret first spotted the extraordinary skills of Henry who was just 13 year old at that time. During those days Viry-Chatillon was considered one of the best clubs for nurturing football talents. Thierry Henry soon started playing for Viry-Chatillon for Under-15 team. Henry scored 77 goals in 26 matches for Viry-Chatillon.

At the age of 14, Thierry Henry was enrolled in the French Football Association Clairefontaine Academy where Nicolas Anelka, Louis Saha & William Gallas were his classmates.

Thierry Henry’s true potential was discovered by AS Monaco in the year 1990 and he made his first professional debut in the year 1994 with the same club. Henry signed the international Club Juventus in 1998 and later moved to Arsenal for a fee of £10.5 million in August 1999.

For Arsenal Henry made his reputation as a prolific striker he scored total 226 goals for Arsenal. Henry is all time highest goal scorer in the history of Arsenal FC. Theirry won 2 league titles and 3 FA Cups. Henry was nominated twice for the FIFA World Player of the Year. He was also given the name of the PFA Players' Player of the Year twice, and the name of Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year thrice. Thierry Henry has received 69 International Caps and 28 International Goals. Henry was the club captain when Arsenal reached in the UEFA Champions League final in 2006. Thierry played for 8 years at the Arsenal Club. In June 2007, Henry joined FC Barcelona for a fee of £16.1 million.

Henry got success in the French national squad too and won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000. Despite advance age Thierry Henry got the opportunity in French World Cup 2006 squad. Thierry Henry got selected in FIFA’s All Star Team at the World Cup held in 2006. In October 2007, Henry broke the record of Michel Platini and became the top scorer for France.

The year 2006-07 was little disappointing for Henry, who suffered from injuries. Also, it was revealed that Thierry Henry and his wife Claire Merry nick-named as Nicole Merry were splitting up after four years of successful marriage. The Couple officially got separated on 3rd September, 2007.

A month later after their divorce, Henry admitted that he is not going to play for Barcelona and said "I have to adapt to the club and the team and not the other way round and that takes time.”
